Trio of Fruit Bowls in Natural Piassava Fiber – Sergio J. Matos

Fruit bowls developed by the Mato Grosso designer Sergio J. Matos through the Brazil Original Amazonas Project, an initiative of Sebrae-AM.

“The Inajá Collection, carried out in partnership with indigenous communities and riverine people from Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, in the Amazon, goes beyond the fusion of design with craftsmanship. It houses the energy of the forest and the river’s current to pour into plots of knowledge, rites, and secrets that cross generations as treasures kept through time. The crafts of basketry, wrapped in the aura of ancestry, materialize the uniqueness of vases, fruit bowls, and luminaires in piassava fiber. Objects adorned with delicate layers inspired by the bark of the palm fruits that name the pieces. They intertwine beliefs, promote social sustainability, and drive creative economy. Design that transforms.” – Sergio J. Matos
