Designer Sergio Matos from Paraíba was invited to collaborate on a collection of products with indigenous communities in the Amazon.
“I like to say that I am a co-author. The project is aimed at indigenous communities, and the idea is not to change the characteristic of handmade production. It is necessary to preserve the references of belonging, immersion in ancestral knowledge and practices, and the valorization of the local raw materials. What we do, then, is maintain the technique but create a contemporary product. The weavings are theirs; I merely design.” – Sergio Matos.
